The Cisco ASA 5500 Series Product Team is proud to pre-announce the upcoming Cisco ASA 5505 Adaptive Security Appliance. This next-generation security appliance provides market-leading security services for small business, branch office, and enterprise teleworker environments.
It targets customers similar to those of our Cisco PIX 501, Cisco PIX 506E, and Cisco VPN 3002 Hardware VPN Client solutions - but delivers significantly more capabilities and performance, while maintaining similar price points. Below are the platform highlights as well as pricing and availability details.
Platform Highlights

- Offers Security Services Card (SSC) expansion slot for future expandability
- Easy-to-deploy with "plug and play" default configuration and Setup Wizard
- Support for Auto Update for scalable multi-device management by future version of Cisco Security Manager (CSM)
- Provides DHCP client/server/relay, PPPoE support, and Dynamic DNS for wide-range of deployment options

* More than doubles maximum number of concurrent firewall sessions (10K -> 25K)
* More than doubles maximum number of IPSec VPN peers (10 -> 25)
* Removes restrictions on Home VLAN to offer true DMZ services with integrated switch (3 VLAN design)
